An US public company listed in NYSE anticipated a possible merge and acquisition with a Chinese company. Major patents that the Chinese company held were considered critical Intellectual properties in the transaction and were acquired by the public company. During the due diligence , a concern was raised that an initial inventor had left the Chinese company and might have legal impact on the transaction if he were pursuing the same business. The company retained us to investigate where the investor was and what he was doing regarding to the transaction within a week.
